Never say never. When the owners of Eastview first admired the plot on Skegness’s Five Acres Crescent, a private community on the edge of town with open farmland to the east, a friend told them they’d never get planning permission. So they built elsewhere first. When a developer later secured consent and agreed to release some of the land, the family seized the chance to create the modern country home they had imagined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It wasn’t quick. Four architects, three planning applications, two committee meetings and nine years later, Eastview is complete, and it’s now for sale with a guide price of \u00a32,300,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A classically styled family home<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The family considered an eco-house but chose a more classically styled design, created with Andrew Clover and built in Northern Buff brick under a slate roof. Inside are 8,500 sq ft of living space over three floors, set within three-quarters of an acre: enough room for family life without an arduous garden to maintain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A large entrance hall with white marble and a sweeping staircase leads to a galleried landing. Beyond it, a 40ft open-plan living and dining kitchen has bi-fold doors and a dining wing glazed on three sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kitchen, technology and sustainability<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The kitchen is by Leicht, the German specialist, in walnut veneers and natural stone, with an illuminated marble splashback, granite worktops, a Quooker tap and Gaggenau appliances including a built-in coffee maker, warming drawers, induction hob, wine cooler and a hidden pantry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Niko home control system runs the heating, lighting, TV, audio and blinds, and speakers are concealed within the plasterwork. Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, rainwater harvesting and solar panels with battery storage support the house’s environmental credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bedrooms and leisure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the first floor are six bedrooms, five of them en suite. The principal suite has a large dressing room and shares a glass-balustraded balcony over the gardens with the guest suite, and there’s a practical upstairs laundry. The second floor is given over to a games and cinema room, and there’s also a snug, a study, a gym and a double garage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside, a pool house holds a hot tub and swim spa, alongside a glazed outdoor kitchen, a gazebo dining area and low-maintenance decking, sandstone and resin driveways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
