As a runner and cyclist respectively, they bonded over their love of the outdoors and adventurous holidays.

However, their relationship blossomed just before the world turned upside down, and despite living apart during lockdown (with Paul in London and Laragh in Cambridge), their connection only grew stronger. Paul is originally from Chester and moved to London for his career, while Laragh’s journey to the area was a little more winding.

Born in Cardiff and living in Cambridge when they met, Laragh had fond memories of Stamford from her teenage years when her family home was in Kimbolton.

Visiting Stamford was always a treat, and her first job in a beauty salon directly opposite The George Hotel left a lasting impression. So, when it came time to plan their wedding, there was no doubt that The George would be the perfect venue.

The proposal itself was a heartfelt declaration of love in the early hours of New Year’s Day 2022.

Paul wanted Laragh to choose her own ring, and they eventually settled on a beautifully antique mine-cut diamond and platinum ring, a perfect symbol of their timeless connection.

Choosing the venue and date was the first step in their wedding planning journey. The couple selected 22nd August 2024, which would have marked both Paul’s late father’s 90th birthday and also his uncle’s 100th birthday, as tribute to them both.

Laragh’s bridal look was effortlessly elegant, wearing Sky by Stephanie Allin, sourced from Natalya James Bridal in Ampthill. With no veil or train, she opted for a simple, classic silhouette complemented by a fitted bolero crafted by Natalya herself.

Her hair was styled by long-time friend Kate Atalay of Wedding Hairstyling by Kate Atalay, while makeup was expertly applied by Kate Fletcher of Flashkate Bridal Make Up.

In keeping with the intimate feel of the day, Laragh chose to walk down the aisle on her own, honouring her father’s memory after his sad passing just two months prior. The couple’s respective sons, Oscar and Alex, stood proudly as witnesses, dressed in smart blue suits from Moss Bros.

The floral arrangements, created by Andrea from Kimbolton Flower Shop, were nothing short of breathtaking. Laragh couldn’t praise Andrea enough for her beautiful creations and for her professional touch. The wedding breakfast was provided by The George, though the couple chose to forgo a traditional wedding cake, opting instead for a four-course dinner following their afternoon ceremony.

Capturing every precious moment was photographer Liz Greenhalgh, whose work perfectly reflected the love and laughter of the day. Laragh and Paul couldn’t be happier with the stunning images that bring back the warmth and joy of their celebration every time they look at them.

Reflecting on their wedding, Laragh fondly remembers the overwhelming sense of love and happiness that surrounded them. They wanted an intimate, stylish day shared with close family, and that’s exactly what they achieved.

“We had the most perfect day,” says Laragh. “I feel a warm glow when I think about it or look at the photos!”

Local Suppliers

Wedding Venue: The George of Stamford, 01780 750750 www.georgehotelofstamford.com.
Photographer: Liz Greenhalgh Photography, 07739 853413, www.lizgreenhalgh.co.uk.
Wedding Dress: Stephanie Allin at Natalya James Bridal, 01525 620056, www.natalyajames.com.
Bridal Hair: Kate Atalay, 07834 403 091, kateatalay.co.uk.
Makeup Artist: Flashkate, 07971 061314, flashkate.com.
Groom’s Tailoring: Moss Bros, 01733 304519.
Floristry: Kimbolton Flower Shop, 07565 504597.

View more images by Liz Greenhalgh Photography (07739 853413, www.lizgreenhalgh.co.uk) in our June edition, at https://www.pridemagazines.co.uk/stamford/view-magazines?magazine=June-2025.
