For 25 years, the prevailing principle of Sarah Harding Interiors is that every client and every project must be approached as something individual and unique, tailored and personal.

“Every home and every room is different, so there’s definitely a practical advantage to creating interiors with bespoke furnishings,” says Sarah. “But every family is unique, too. So our work isn’t shaped by the space, but by the people who live there.”

Working alongside Sarah is her husband John and daughter Alice, plus a wider team of experienced interior designers too. The size of the team and breadth of experience mean that every client can enjoy a personal, thoughtful consultation that reflects the individuality of the client, not only in the collaborative design process, but in the finished design.

“It’s really important to take the time to put the client first, to listen to their ideas and aspirations for their project and to ensure their vision can be realised from idea, to planning, to inspiration, ensuring everything is delivered to budget and on time.”

“A good interior designer will understand the technical details of a project and how to create an interior that’s cohesive.”

“They’ll also have access to the quality products from fabrics to wallcoverings and paint, to expert furniture makers who can make bespoke soft furnishings, tables, chairs, and sofas to suit your space in terms of size and style.”

“But that’s nothing without a process that allows the client to remain empowered to be part of the process and to create their vision, rather than having an interior designer’s single signature style dictated to them. That’s the opposite of what a good designer should provide. The idea of an interior designer imparting their ideas has been consigned to the past, replaced by a much better experience for the client.”

“One perception that does remain, however, is the idea that an interior designer is only interested in larger projects, a complete home, for example. Nothing could be further from the truth. The size of our team and our ability to project manage ongoing work means we can always accommodate advice and ideas, or to create for clients everything from a set of curtains to fit a specific window, or even a single cushion. We’re always able to help clients to commission something to suit, without compromise.”

“Testimonials that we’ve received have reflected this too. One client said that ‘Sarah has the most amazing talent at finding the look that you actually want rather than trying to influence her taste on you.’ Another said that we ‘listen carefully to your needs and give clients loads of helpful suggestions as well as working within a budget and timescale.’ And a third said that ‘the staff that work in the showroom are definitely the best in the area.’

“And finally, a good interior designer should offset the cost of their services with the quality and longevity of the products they create, but also avoid a client ending up with a scheme they tire of, or with decisions they later regret.”

“We pride ourselves on ensuring happy clients and providing a service that people enjoy engaging with. It’s a great role, and one where no job and no client, is ever the same… we enjoy it, and our reputation is unsurpassed. That’s why we’ve become trusted and respected across Rutland for over 25 years!”

6 Market Place, Uppingham, Oakham LE15 9QH. Call 01572 823389.
