Enjoying Spring at Kilworth House

Aside from great dining, wonderful live performances and beautiful accommodation, there’s one pre-eminent reason to enjoy a visit to Kilworth House this spring: the fact that this stunning Victorian country house hotel offers a very warm welcome to its guests!

Warmer Weather, blue skies and that entirely unmistakable sense that spring has finally arrived. This year especially there’s a feeling that it’s time to get out and about to enjoy ourselves once again, hence an unequivocal recommendation of a visit to Kilworth House.

More than just a country house hotel, Kilworth House also launched its theatre in 2007 and now provides not only first class dining and comfortable accommodation but also a whole season of live events to turn your visit into a thoroughly enjoyable day or evening of superb entertainment.

“The last two years have certainly been challenging, however we have managed to get through them, opening when rules allowed, adhering to guidance and adapting where necessary,” say the hotel’s Sarah Johnston.

“We did have to postpone the past two seasons Theatre programmes, limit bookings and reduce services, which we did with a very heavy heart, but it was the responsible course of action.”

However, we are now fully open across all services,  and this spring, we will reopen our outdoor theatre as we did prior to Covid, we are extremely excited to do this and are looking forward to welcoming back guests!”

Carousel and Half a Sixpence…

“In particular we’re beginning our theatre season with a Rodgers & Hammerstein classic, Carousel, a love story set in 19th century New England with its iconic showtune ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ Carousel will be performed from 24th May into July, and it’ll be just the kind of heart-warming, energetic show for which Kilworth House is renowned!

In July and August, we’re also presenting Half a Sixpence by arrangement with Cameron Mackintosh and featuring Great British mirth, some colourful costumes and its eponymous song.”

“Later in Spring we’ll also unveil the 2022 programme for our Live at Kilworth season, which offers everything a series of musical performances culminating in our Last Night of the Proms celebration.”

“The auditorium is a 550-seat open air-theatre, but it’s covered over so it’s both weather proof, but well-ventilated too. It really is a stunning looking venue and has its own bar and restaurant in the form of The Staging Post, our luxurious log cabin.”

Making Your Visit Special…

“To make their visit to the theatre extra special, many people take advantage of our pre-theatre dining or our theatre breaks which offer accommodation too.”

“Others choose to bring a picnic and enjoy opening their hamper adjacent to the theatre, on the tables and chairs in the leafy area we’ve set aside for guests.”

Exceptional Dining…

“Our Head Chef is Max Faulkner, and his brasserie menu is served in the hotel’s Victorian Orangery. All of his dishes are superbly presented and absolutely delicious, reflecting the talent and flair of a really creative brigade. As well as brasserie dining Kilworth House offers traditional afternoon tea options and we’ve a number of private dining rooms – Wordsworth, Shakespeare and Byron for example – to host your private celebration in style. We offer an exceptional Sunday lunch too, with local sirloin of beef and all of the trimmings.

Special Occasions…

“This month we’re providing a three-course Mother’s Day Lunch on Sunday 27th March with chocolate gifts for mum, as well as our Come Dine with Me evening, on Thursday 7th April which will see Max prepare a stunning three-course seasonal menu, and share some of his culinary secrets, providing an insight into life in the kitchen. It’s aways an awe-inspiring evening, a chance to learn from the very best, and it adds an extra dimension to the pleasure of dining out!”

Accommodation…

“Whether you’re enjoying visiting the area or enjoying a theatre break, our rooms are all beautifully appointed, some with four-poster beds and beautiful views over the parkland. Waking up in the luxury of Kilworth House always feels special!
