Meet ‘the spirit of Lincoln’ this season
Visitors to Lincoln Museum will be able to meet The Spirit of Lincoln when the site reopens this season following a complete renovation. The Lincoln Museum was formerly known as The Collection and is located next to The Usher Gallery, its sister site.
Now in the final stages of work, Lincoln Museum’s new major installations have been installed including a lime pilaster with a female figure ‘The Spirit of Lincoln’, one of the finest examples of stone sculpture from Roman Britain. Discovered in the Roman cemetery on Monks Road, the graceful female figure is classically draped and holds a cornucopia – a horn of plenty.
It’s anticipated that the museum will reopen in late September or early October.
