Defender Burghley Horse Trials returns to Burghley Park from 3rd to 6th September 2026. Here is how the four days unfold and what visitors can expect Defender Burghley Horse Trials takes place at Burghley Park, Stamford, from Thursday 3rd to Sunday 6th September 2026. It is one of eventing’s best-known five-star competitions and one of the most important dates in the local calendar, combining top-level sport with the atmosphere of a major country event. The setting matters: Burghley House and its parkland give the competition a sense of theatre that television cannot quite reproduce. What happens on each day?
